student feedback

  • Previous students rated the university a 5 out of 5

  • Previous students rated the courses difficulty to be similar to Nova.

  • Carolina (Fall 2021): You have a wide range of classes to pick from (approx. 30). There's basic electives such as International Strategy and Entrepreneurship, but also courses for people interested in Finance, Marketing, Innovation, HR, etc.

  • André (Spring 2015): Courses were average, but business project was excellent - and auxiliary activities (team coaching etc) were first class.

  • Previous students rated the workload to be demanding.

  • Carolina (Fall 2021): Workload can be high, but super doable, I personally found the 1st semester at Nova worse. I think the content is not hard, but you do usually have a big group project in each one. Pro tip: CEMS Courses are less work that elective courses, and they are worth more credits.

  • André (Spring 2015): Average - signficantly lighter than Nova

  • Previous students rated the city life to be good.

  • Previous students rated the nightlife to be good.

  • Carolina (Fall 2021): Super fun, amazing restaurants, great places to go out if you like bars or if you also like nightclubs. There is always something going on somewhere.

  • André (Spring 2015): Amazing, full of culture and life. Small city, bike/walk everywhere. Amazing jazz festival in July (North Sea)

  • Previous students said the CEMS cohort had around 40 students.

  • Previous students rated the CEMS community to be amazing.

  • Previous students rated the CEMS Office to be amazing.

  • Carolina (Fall 2021): Super active CEMS Club who is always making cool events (Pancake Boats, trips to Paris and Dublin, pubcrawls, Cantus, etc). The cohort was also close.

  • André (Spring 2015): Tight knit community, did everything together in a gang of 20 or 30 :)

  • Previous students said it was very hard to find accommodation.

  • Carolina (Fall 2021): You need to look in advance. In my opinion the best zones to live are Kralingen or the Center. Usually is 550 - 700 euros. I got housing student housing from uni and it was 5 minutes biking from the campus and I paid 450.

  • André (Spring 2015): Average - but way better than Portuguese standards

PRIce of one beer

  • Previous students said that living costs were much higher compared to Lisbon.

  • Carolina (Fall 2021): A beer 0.5l is 5 - 6 euros

  • André (Spring 2015): Not expensive - pint was 3€ at that time

André (Spring 2015)

Do it - best semester of my life

Carolina (Fall 2021)

Workload is doable, Rotterdam is such a fun metropolitan city. The cohort is super close and the CEMS experience there is great. I loved doing my exchange there.
